Aalborg Symfoniorkester er et dynamisk landsdelsorkester med base i Musikkens Hus – en af Nordens mest markante koncertsale med akustik og arkitektur i international klasse. Vi har høje kunstneriske ambitioner og et stærkt internationalt udsyn. Og nu søger vi nye kolleger – måske er det dig?

Orkestrets hjemmebane er i Aalborg, Nordjyllands hovedstad, smukt beliggende ved Limfjorden. Byen kombinerer storbyens kultur- og musikliv med overskuelighed og nærhed. Om orkestret

Aalborg Symfoniorkester blev grundlagt i 1943 og består i dag af 65 fuldtidsansatte musikere.

Kernen i vores virke er de symfoniske torsdagskoncerter med både danske og internationale solister og dirigenter. Derudover spiller vi opera- og balletforestillinger med Det Kongelige Teater og Den Jyske Opera, filmkoncerter samt cross-over-projekter med kunstnere fra andre genrer. Vores stærke børne- og ungeprogram er også med til at bringe musikken ud til publikum i alle aldre i hele Nordjylland.

Med akustik i verdensklasse og de unikke rammer i Musikkens Hus skaber vi en platform for kunstnerisk udfoldelse. Vi samarbejder med førende solister, dirigenter og kulturaktører fra ind- og udland for at sikre koncerter af højeste kvalitet. Samtidig arbejder vi målrettet på at styrke vores synlighed og udvide vores netværk, så orkestret fortsat er en central aktør i dansk og internationalt musikliv. Et vigtigt fokus er at skabe en arbejdsplads, hvor trivsel og kunstneriske ambitioner går hånd i hånd.

Siden 2023 har den amerikanske dirigent Joshua Weilerstein været chefdirigent, mens Michael Schønwandt er orkestrets æresdirigent.

Interview

Efter tredje runde afholdes et interview. Samtalen er en central del af ansættelsesproceduren, hvor vi sikrer, at både det kunstneriske og det menneskelige matcher, mellem kandidaten og Aalborg Symfoniorkesters kunstneriske vision, værdier og menneskesyn.

En akkompagnatør stilles til rådighed, og klaveret stemmes til 442 Hz. Vi kan ikke garantere mulighed for øvning med pianist forud for konkurrencen. Hvis det aftales er det for ansøgerens egen regning

About the Orchestra

Aalborg Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1943 and today consists of 65 full-time musicians.

At the heart of our work are the Thursday symphonic concerts, featuring both Danish and international soloists and conductors. In addition, we perform opera and ballet productions with The Royal Danish Theatre and Danish National Opera, film concerts, and cross-genre projects with artists from other fields. Our strong children and youth program also helps bring music to audiences of all ages throughout North Jutland.

With world-class acoustics and the unique setting of Musikkens Hus, we provide a platform for artistic expression. We collaborate with leading soloists, conductors, and cultural institutions nationally and internationally to ensure concerts of the highest quality. At the same time, we are actively working to increase our visibility and expand our network, so the orchestra remains a key player in both Danish and international music life. A central focus is to create a workplace where well-being and artistic ambition go hand in hand.

Since 2023, the American conductor Joshua Weilerstein has served as Chief Conductor, while Michael Schønwandt is our Conductor Emeritus.

Interview:

After the third round, an interview will be conducted. This conversation is a central part of the recruitment process, ensuring that the artistic and human values align between the candidate and Aalborg Symphony Orchestra’s vision and values.

A piano accompanist will be provided, and the piano will be tuned to 442 Hz. We cannot guarantee the possibility of practicing with a pianist prior to the competition. If agreed, the applicant must pay for it themselves.
